Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival in Addis Ababa. Transfer to the chosen hotel. Have a free morning. Afternoon (1400 hrs from the hotel) tour of the capital: visit Entoto mountain with views over the capital, the National museum, St George church and the Mercato, biggest open air market in Africa. Meals free. ON (overnight) hotel.

Day 2: Start the trip driving to the coffee region of Kaffa. Visit Jima with AbaJifar palace and museum. Proceed to Bonga and visit a coffee plantation. Lunch box on the way; dinner & ON camping

Day 3: Proceed to Mizanteferi for permits, visiting Dizi people on the way. Then drive to ShoaGhimira to visit the Menit and Surma people. Continue to Tum. Lunch on the way; dinner & ON camping in Tum

Day 4: Visit Surma people. The Surma are famous for their traditions, women wearing plates into their lips and men different scarification all over their body. With luck you could find a donga: the Surma people stick fighting game. Lunch box; dinner & ON camping.

Day 5: Drive to Omo National park, home of different animals as buffalos, elephants, and more. Afternoon make a walk game in the park.  Lunch box; dinner & ON camping Omo National park

Day 6: Proceed to Nyangatom villages and visit this very interesting tribe. Drive then to the other very colorful Karo people and visit their villages; fantastic view from Kortcho village. Proceed then for the Hamer people, to Turmi. Lunch box; dinner & ON Evangadi lodge Turmi

Day 7: Full day for the very colorful Hamer people, famous for the decorative hairstyles and ornaments. With luck we try to visit ceremonies as bull jumping & Evangadi dances.

The Hamar are known for their unique custom of “bull jumping” which initiates a boy into manhood. First, female relatives dance and invite whipping from men who have recently been initiated; this shows their support of the initiate, and their scars give them a right to demand his help in time of need. The boy must run back and forth twice across the backs of a row of bulls or castrated steers, and is ridiculed if he fails. Meals & ON Evangadi lodge Turmi www.emeraldresortandlodge.com

Day 8: Morning visit the very colorful Hamer, Karo & Dassanech people market in Dimeka village (from around 11am to about 2pm). Afternoon remaining visit at Hamer people Lunch box; dinner & ON Evangadi lodge Turmi.

Day 9: Early morning drive to Omorate, at Omo river bank, to visit the Dassanech people. Proceed then to the border and make necessary process. Enter into Kenya and proceed to Sibiloi National park. Late afternoon game drive. Lunch box on the day; dinner & ON camping in Sibiloi

Day 10: Drive to Loyangalani, at Turkana lake. Admire the Turkana and Elmolo people and very interesting villages. Lunch on the way; dinner & ON Oasis lodge or camping at Turkana

Day 11: Full days visit of Turkana and Elmolo people and their villages. Optional make a boat trip on Turkana Lake for Elmolo village. Lunch box; dinner & ON Oasis lodge or camping at Turkana

Day 12: Proceed to the Samburu National park. Afternoon have the game drive in the Samburu National park, one of the richest of fauna and flora (including the big five) in Kenya. Physically dramatic, the 104 sq kilometer landscape features rocky battlements, dry riverbeds and thorn scrub. As for wildlife, Samburu offers sanctuary to the endangered Gravy’s zebra, the rare beisa Oryx and the blue-shanked Somali ostrich whilst large herds of elephant roam the gaunt hills during the day before returning to bath on the banks of the river in the evening. Lunch on the way; dinner & ON lodge in the park 

Day 13: Early morning enjoy a game drive in the Samburu National park. Proceed then to Lake Nakuru for the large number of flamingoes and more visits. Lake Nakuru is a fresh water lake with over 2 million flamingos that flock to feed on the teeming algae, over 450 different bird species have been recorded and it hosts a sanctuary to The Black Rhino and White Rhino. Lunch on the way; dinner & ON lodge

Day 14: Drive to Bogoria Lake, for numerous birds, pelicans, flamingoes and great views. Continue to Nairobi, enjoying a scenic drive of the Great Rift Valley. Reach then Nairobi. Lunch on the way. Dinner at the Carnivore Restaurant Transfer to the airport for departure
