Itinerary

Day 1:  KIGALI Arrive by flight in Kigali. VIP Meet and greet assistance at the airport. Test for Covid-19. You will be handed over to and warmly welcomed by our representative.  Transfer to city hotel for check in. Before dinner tonight we will have the opportunity for formal introductions and to run over the exciting program for your upcoming Rwanda tour. Overnight. THE KIGALI MARRIOTT(HB –Dinner, Bed & Breakfast)  ONE & ONLY GORILLA’S NEST LODGE (All Inclusive- breakfast, lunch and dinner daily, alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages with meals and two activities per person per day (as defined by the Resort and subject to change without notice).

Day 2:  KIGALI – VOLCANOES (02h30 drive) 09h00:  After breakfast at the hotel, you will check out and settle all extras. 10h00:  Set off for MUSANZE & VOLCANOES National Park, the most famous destination in Rwanda, Volcanoes National Park has become synonymous with mountain gorilla tracking safaris and no visit to the country would be complete without visiting these majestic primate. 12h30: Arrive and check in at the lodge, followed by lunch. The afternoon will be at leisure to relax and enjoy the surroundings or participate in a complimentary activity that is offered at the lodge. Dinner and overnight stay.

Day 3: Volcanoes National Park    (Gorilla Trek/People & Culture) 06h30:  After an early breakfast at the lodge, proceed to the park headquarters in time for Gorilla Trek briefing at 07h00. We will then transfer you to the trail head of your guided walk that begins at 08h00. Volcanoes National Park is the Rwandan section of the great volcanic massif called the Virunga Mountains that straddles the borders of Rwanda, Uganda and the DRC. The massif covers a huge area of over 8,000km², encompassing six active and three extinct volcanoes. There is no other wildlife experience quite like an encounter with mountain gorillas. That precious hour spent in their company – watching the group playing, sulking, teasing each other, eating, or dozing just like we do – is extraordinary. After this memorable experience, you will proceed to the lodge in time for lunch and cleaning of boots. This afternoon at 15h00, you will visit the Gorilla guardians villageGorilla Guardians Village is changing the traditional perception of what constitutes tourism by turning fate into fame through sharing various aspects of rural cultures and livelihoods into tourist attractions and creating income-generating activities for rural poor people that have reformed from living on bush meat and poaching for generations. Return to the lodge  in the evening.Dinner and overnight stay. one & only gorilla’s nest lodge (All Inclusive- breakfast, lunch and dinner daily, alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages with meals and two activities per person per day (as defined by the Resort and subject to change without notice).

Day 4: Golden monkey 06h30: Today, you have an early breakfast transfer to the park headquarters for Golden monkey trekking briefing which starts at 07h00. We will then transfer you to the trail head of your guided walk that begins at 08h00. The Tracking usually takes about 4 hrs. Once you come to the habituated families, you will spend the allowed one hour with them as they go about their daily life Return to the lodge in time for lunch. The afternoon is at leisure or participate in one complimentary activity around the lodge Dinner and overnight stay ONE & ONLY GORILLA’S NEST LODGE (All Inclusive- breakfast, lunch and dinner daily, alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages with meals and two activities per person per day (as defined by the Resort and subject to change without notice)

Day 5: Musanze/Volcanoes – Nyungwe National Park (05h00 scenic drive) Have an early breakfast at the lodge. 08h00:  You will be assisted with check out and a settlement of extras. 08h30: Proceed to NYUNGWE FOREST NATIONAL PARK where the largest montane forest in East and Central Africa is found. The heart of Nyungwe Forest is like a scene from a fairy tale. Tall old mahoganies, ebonies and giant tree ferns tower above you, whilst orchids and other epiphytes cling to every branch. Brightly coloured birds flit around, butterflies are everywhere, and walking quietly you may even encounter larger forest residents, including a variety of primates for which Nyungwe National Park is renowned 13h30: Arrive at the resort and check in.  Lunch will follow. Relax and enjoy the surroundings or participate in a complimentary brochure activity such as e.g. Boot camps spear throwing, Conservation Walk, Exploring by bicycle or Nyungwe Nocturnal walk. Dinner and Overnight stay. ONE & ONLY NYUNGWE HOUSE (All Inclusive- breakfast, lunch and dinner daily, non-alcoholic beverages with meals and two activities per person per day (as defined by the Resort and subject to change without notice)

Day 6:  Nyungwe National Park  Chimpanzee Trek Today at 05h00 you will get your packed breakfast and  drive to the park headquarters for chimpanzee trek briefing and formalities and then to the evergreen forest for a great experience that starts at 06h00. You may spot a wide variety of bird life. Dashing at high speed through the flora, hooting and clanging – it’s a truly exhilarating experience to encounter chimpanzees playing, wild and free. Home to one of East Africa’s last intact chimpanzee populations, Nyungwe is an ideal place to observe chimps in their natural habitat. Return to the resort at around 10h00. Have breakfast and some rest. 13h00: Lunch is served.  The afternoon will be at leisure to relax or you may opt for various other complementary activities within the property. We will have a traditional tea ceremony in the evening. Dinner and Overnight stay. ONE & ONLY NYUNGWE HOUSE (All Inclusive- breakfast, lunch and dinner daily, non-alcoholic beverages with meals and two activities per person per day. Afternoon at leisure to relax or take part in one of the complimentary activities offered e.g. Boot camp spear throwing, Conservation Walk, Exploring by bicycle or Nyungwe Nocturnal walk. Dinner and overnight

Day 7:   Nyungwe National Park Canopy Alkway Today after breakfast, we will transfer you to the park headquartersfor canopy walk briefing that takes place at 08h00. Your guided canopy walk will start at 09h00. Experience the rainforest from a dazzling new perspective – on the famous Canopy Walkway. The only walk of its kind in East Africa, this breathtaking construction hangs 60 metres above the forest floor between giant trees and towers, revealing a stunning view of the flora and fauna, both below and above. An iconic experience, not to be missed!  ONE & ONLY NYUNGWE HOUSE (All Inclusive- breakfast, lunch and dinner daily, non-alcoholic beverages with meals and two activities per person per day (as defined by the Resort and subject to change without notice)

Day 8:   Nyungwe-KamembeØKigali (40 Minutes schedule flight) Depart

Early breakfast at the resort. Check out. Transfer to the Kamembe airstrip in time for your schedule Rwandair flight to KIGALI, departing at 09h00 or TBA. 09h40: Land and proceed to check in for your international outbound flight (TBA). If your flight is leaving much later, you will be met at exit and transferred to the Kigali Marriott where a day room will be reserved for you and lunch. (extra charge for day room)
